Drinking Water

Summer, heatwave and…water. Get it right!

Proper hydration is as important as a balanced diet for our health and wellbeing. Water constitutes about 60% of body weight and participates in all physiological functions.

Why do we drink more in summer?

High temperatures increase water loss through urine, lungs and sweat, therefore fluid needs increase.

How much water should I drink?

Hydration needs vary by age, gender, activity and ambient temperature. A common guide is around 2 liters of fluids per day for adults, depending on conditions.

What if I do not feel like drinking water?

Besides water, non-alcoholic beverages can contribute to hydration. Water should still be first choice.
